Printmaking, distinguished by its various processes, allows diverse ways of working and offers unique inherent qualities and potentials. In working in drawing and painting as well as printmaking, I see the ways in which my experience in one medium contributes to my experience in another. Yet throughout all my work, my expressive requirements direct me, and although I may not know my destination at the start, I do recognize it when I arrive. This relates to the realization of presence.
I believe an artist’s spirit is experienced as presence. It is cumulative and is revealed though the work. Of inner necessity, it is integral to the work and it convinces us of the work’s authenticity.
